Pengaruh Obesitas Terhadap Citra Tubuh Pada Remaja di SMA Kristen Gamaliel Makassar

Adolescents in the process of forming identity often encounter problems regarding meeting needs
due to changes that occur during adolescence. Obesity is currently an important issue for
adolescents, psychological disorders that arise in obese adolescents are body image disorders. The
purpose of this study is to determine the effect of obesity on body image in adolescents at
Gamaliel Christian High School Makassar. Research Design: This study used an observational
analytic cross sectional study approach with a total sample of 55 respondents. The research
instrument used was a questionnaire and data were analyzed using the chi-square test with a
significant level (α = 0.05). Results: The coefficient between the p-value variables was 0.001
<0.05 and had a close relationship which means it had an influence on obesity on adolescent body
image. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, data analysis, and discussion it can be
concluded that there is an effect of obesity on the body image of teenagers from the Gamaliel
Christian High School Makassar. From the results of statistical tests using the Chi-square test, the
probability value (p-value = 0.001) <0.05 shows that there is an effect of obesity with body image
on Gamaliel Makassar Christian High School Youth.
