Men's participation is the responsibility of men in the involvement and
participation of family planning and reproductive health, as well as healthy
and safe sexual behavior for themselves, their partners and their families.
The real form of the man's participation is as a family planning participant,
supporting and deciding with his wife in the use of contraception, as a family
planning motivator in planning the number of children in his family (BKKBN,
2014). However, the participation of men in the family planning program is
still lacking, as can be seen from the low achievement of vasectomy.
This study is an inferential quantitative study with multiple regression
analysis to measure the effect partially and simultaneously between the
independent variables, namely the level of knowledge, attitudes, education
level, family support, socio-cultural environment, family welfare and the
dependent variable, namely husband's participation in the use of
contraception. The sample used was 70 people who were taken by
purposive sampling technique from a total population of 190 couples of
childbearing age (PUS) in Maccile Village, Soppeng Regency. In this study,
several analyzes were used, namely classical assumption analysis and
hypothesis testing using the t test to determine the effect partially, the f test
to determine the effect simultaneously and the coefficient of determination
to determine how much influence the X variable has on the Y variable.
In conclusion, it was found that the variable that had no partial effect on
husband's participation in the use of contraception was family welfare, while
other variables, namely the level of knowledge, attitude, education level,
family support, socio-cultural environment had a partial effect on husband's
participation in the use of contraception. From the F test, all independent
variables have a simultaneous effect on husband's participation in the use
of contraception with a coefficient of determination of 90.4%.
