Snake wood as a plant that contains flavonoid compounds and is
efficacious as a fever reducer (antipyretic). This study aimed to examine
the antipyretic effect of snake bark extract (Strychnos lucida G. Don) from
Papua against male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by 5% peptone
and determine the best concentration for the antipyretic activity of snake
bark extract (Rattus norvegicus). Strychnos lucida G. Don). The test
animals used were 20 animals, which were divided into 5 groups with 4
replications, namely negative control (1% Na.CMC suspension), positive
control (0.9% w/v paracetamol suspension) and snake bark extract test
group. (Strychnos lucida G. Don) with a concentration of 0.03 % w/v, 0.06
%w/v and 0.12 % w/v. The data obtained were analyzed using Anova and
LSD tests. The results showed that at a concentration of 0.12 % w/v snake
bark extracts (Strychnos lucida G. Don) had antipyretic activity equivalent
to paracetamol suspension as a positive control with an antipyretic power
of 77.1590% and a p value. 0.703 (p > 0.05), while in the negative control
the percentage of antipyretic power was 10.0821% and the p value was
0.003% (p < 0.05).
