Penetapan Kandungan β-Karoten Pada Bunga Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) Asal Kabupaten Manggarai Barat Dengan Metode Spektrofotometri UV-Visible

Research on the determination of β-carotene content in roselle
(Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) from West Manggarai Regency using UV-Visible
spectrophotometric method has been conducted. The purpose of this
study was to determine the levels of β-carotene contained in roselle
flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) from West Manggarai Regency by using
the UV-Visible spectrophotometric method. The qualitative test results of
roselle flower extract (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) by means of the test sample
added with sufficient amount of 25% SbCl3 reagent showed that roselle
flower extract (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) contained β-carotene compounds.
This is evidenced by the change in blue color according to the library used.
The results of the quantitative test showed that the levels in each
replication were replication I was 534.387 μg / g, replication II was 540.072
μg / g and replication III was 543.129 μg / g. So that the average β-
Carotene content obtained is 539.196 μg / g.
