Faktor Yang Berhubungan Dengan Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Istirahat Tidur Klien Post Operasi di Ruang Perawatan Bedah RSU Wisata UIT Makassar

Sleeping is considered as one of human’s fundamental need and
categorized as a physiological need. Sleeping is also universal, since all and
each individual wherever he/she is, needs sleep. In case of a post-surgical
patient, sleep disruption may occur. The objective of this research is to determine
factor(s) that correlate(s) with fulfilment of a post-surgical patient’s sleeping
need.
The research design that is implemented is cross-sectional. To determine
sample group, purposive sampling method using 46 respondents was
implemented. A questionnaire was used as research instrument. Data which was
obtained from the questionnaire then analysed using “chi-square test” with
significant level of (ɑ = 0.05)
The result had indicated that there is a significant correlation between
nursing room’s comfort level with fulfilment of a post-surgical patient’s sleeping
need with score of π = 0.019 < alpha score of 0.05 and anxiety with fulfilment of
a post-surgical patient’s sleeping need whose score is π = 0.012 < alpha 0.05;
however there is no significant correlation between the post-surgical pain with
fulfilment of a post-surgical patient’s sleeping need whose score is π = 0.242 >
alpha 0.05. The most significant factor is anxiety whose phi score is 0.371.
Based on the research result, it is highly important that a nurse should put
more attention to fulfilment of a post-surgical patient’s sleeping need. The
sleeping need itself is a subjective matter and can only be determined by directly
assessed the patient. The sleep distortion can be caused by many factor and the
most dominant factor is the anxiety.
